Our Gender Reveal: Photos, Details & More

By now you probably know that we are pregnant with our second boy! We hosted the perfect, intimate gender reveal party for our families and we were so lucky to have the event captured by Fox & Twig Lifestyle Photography.

Below I’ve outlined all the details of our special day, enjoy!

The details

The one thing I learned about gender reveal parties is that much of the planning can be extremely last-minute. Only five days passed between the time our doctor gave us the envelope containing the gender and the party.

Since we knew we wanted to host at our house, we didn’t take ourselves too seriously and kept everything low-key from the menu to the decor.

Jersey Mike’s subs, picnic-style sides and finger desserts accompanied by a few stems from Trader Joe’s was the perfect way to celebrate.

The reveal

For Beau, we didn’t find out what we were having until his birth so this whole “gender reveal” thing was completely new to us. Chris definitely wanted to be surprised, so we let my sister-in-law be the official “keeper” of the gender.

We purchased both pink and blue confetti canons from our local Party City, and my SIL brought the correct color. My favorite thing about how we revealed was the fact that our photographer was able to capture everyone’s reaction at the same time.

We all lined up on our front stairs and four of our guests popped the confetti at the same time. The result? The photos are priceless!

*There are SO many ways to reveal the gender of your baby, but I got my inspiration from one of my favorite bloggers, Hunter Premo.

Q&a

How many weeks pregnant were you when you had your reveal?

We did diagnostic bloodwork at week 9 with this baby and found out the gender about a week later. We were 11 weeks at when we revealed!

How did you pick the person who knew before everyone else?
This was an easy one for us! My sister-in-law is my best friend since childhood and offered to be the “keeper.” If you’re not finding out, I recommend someone who can be discreet and not telling them until the very last minute.

Did you like hosting the party yourself or would you rather have let someone else do it?

It was fun to host! Since it was so last minute, I didn’t want anyone else to have to throw it together and I definitely didn’t want to wait any longer to allow more time for planning. Chris and I love to host, so it was no big deal.

It’s a BOY! Are you excited?

We are so happy! Of course, it would have been lovely to have one of each, but the more we think about two boys, the more obsessed we are with the idea. I’m already signing our thank you notes, “Love, Meg & The Boys,” - how fun is that!?

Does Beau realize that he’s going to have a brother?
Probably not. Every time we talk about the baby, he tells us that HE is the one with the baby in his belly, haha. He’s only two, I’m sure he’ll understand more and more as time goes on.

We are so happy the cat’s out of the bag. Thank you so much for the outpouring of support. We already know baby boy is so loved.
